The Swiss Federal Law on Occupational Pensions (BVG) complements the Old-Age and Survivors' Insurance (OASI) as the second pillar (AHV = 1st pillar) in the areas of old age care provisions and the consequences of sickness-related invalidity and death. It is offered by Pension funds, insurers and autonomous collective foundations. It is commonly referred to as private Pension fund. All company employees with an annual gross income in excess of a certain amount are required to be insured in the employer’s Pension fund.
